Air Cleaners and Air Filters
Mechanical Air Cleaners
Mechanical air cleaners use a fan to suck in air through a filter, or series of filters, and then recirculate fresh, clean air back into your home. Air cleaners help to remove pollutants such as:
- Dust
- Pollen
- Pet Dander
- Smoke
- Mold Spores
- Hair and Pet Fur
- Bacteria
- Dirt
- Other Microorganisms
All of these invisible particles can cause health problems, including coughing fits, runny nose, nausea, headaches, and other allergy issues. If you suffer from allergies or asthma, having an air cleaner may help.
Electronic Air Cleaners
UV Germicidal Light Technology
While filters and cleaners remove particles from the air, UV germicidal light technology actually destroys the pollutants it is designed to target. UVGI (ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) cleaners use lamps that generate UV radiation in safe amounts to destroying harmful microorganisms.
Germicidal UV lights target viruses, bacteria, and other allergens circulating in the air or growing on the inner surfaces of the ductwork. Because UV lights are not capable of removing other particles from the air, they are best used as a supplemental measure.
